The Senegalese team managed to overcome the 1-0 defeat against Egypt in the first leg, in the playoff in Africa, and entered the Qatar 2022 World Cup. In the first instance, the team repeated the result, with a goal by Boulaye Dia, while later there was a great effectiveness in the penalty round (3-1), although not only the players were protagonists.

Throughout the 120 minutes of activity at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio, the ‘Leones de la Teranga’ fans sought to make their hometown felt, but not only with chants, but also used lasers to bother and distract the Egyptian team players throughout the match.

The plan seemed to go perfectly, according to what was observed during the execution of penalties for Egypt: Mohamed Salah, Zizo and Mostafa Mohamed missed, while Amr El Solia scored with tension, after initially shooting against the crossbar. The annoyance of the ‘Pharaohs’ soccer players due to the green lights that hit their faces was evident.

Even during the second half, the goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy approached the Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal and expressed his discomfort. However, the claim did not escalate and the comparison continued with its development.

Let us remember that a few years ago, FIFA announced the prohibition of the use of lasers in a sports venue, considering that it affected the protagonists on the pitch. For now, no sanction was known for the fans of the Senegal team, but an ex officio punishment could be given.

Egypt fans committed the same foul

In the first leg, the Egypt team fans had a similar reaction against the Senegalese team, as they whistled during the singing of the anthem and also used the light pointers.
