Lewandowski receives criticism from former Bayern coach: “If he wants to leave, let him go”

However, the striker wants to take on new challenges in his career and expressed his desire to leave the club, despite having one more year on his contract.

After revealing his position to find a new team, the Polish footballer received some criticism and recently an important figure in the history of the ‘Bavarians’ spoke out. Ottmar Hitzfeld, former coach of the institution, referred to the problems that arose around the 33-year-old athlete and left a clear position.

“If Lewandowski wants to leave, let him go, it makes no sense to continue together. My opinion was and always will be: if a player wants to leave, then let him do it.”said the retired strategist, who won the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2001, after a 25-year drought.

Robert Lewandowski maintains a contractual relationship with Bayern Munich, which will end on June 30, 2023.
