Women’s World Cup: Marinette Pichon petitioned to find a TV presenter

Will we be able to vibrate in front of our screen at Herve Renard’s French women’s team matches during the World Cup? The World Cup still doesn’t have a broadcaster in France (like its neighbors) less than two months before the start of the competition, which will take place in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August. Former Blue goalscorer Marinette Pichon (whose record was broken by Eugénie Le Sommer) decided to launch a petition to try to shift the lines.

“I am well aware that football can give women as well as little girls, that this sport can make dreams come true in the same way that it makes little boys dream. Raised by my mother, who ran away from my abusive father, I found in football more than salvation: a huge source of joy,” she says.

The former Juvisi and Philadelphia striker directly challenges the French broadcasters: “With this petition, I am asking TF1 and M6 to buy the rights and broadcast upcoming matches. Fair enough, so-called women’s football can be passionate, as evidenced by the success of the last World Cup (2019) and the last Euro (2022). Before the conclusion: “Sports fans, citizens committed to gender equality, let’s mobilize! And we confirm the right of Les Bleues to a cover worthy of this name. So far, the petition launched on May 25 has garnered over 97,000 signatures against a goal of 150,000 people.
