“While prosecutor Karim Khan announces the installation of an office (of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor’s Office) in Caracas to advance investigations into crimes against humanity by the oppressive Maduro regime, President Alberto Fernández does this irresponsibly and shameful statement,” the former parliamentarian wrote on her Twitter account.

The Argentine president, who asked the Latin American countries to review their ties with Venezuela, affirmed that many of the problems of this nation “have been dissipating over time”, thanks, in part, to the work of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, and to the agreements reached within the framework of the International Contact Group.
In this regard, Lozano maintained that said statements represent a “severe affront to the memory of the victims and relatives of an atrocious regime like Maduro’s,” as well as a “disservice to justice, reparation, non-repetition, respect to human rights, freedom and democracy”.
“There are no political or philosophical alliances that can justify this,” added the opponent.
On March 31, the ICC prosecutor, Karim Khan, said in Caracas that the organization he leads will open an office in Venezuela to continue his investigation of the country, after an agreement was reached with President Nicolás Maduro, with whom he met, in private, during that week, in which he traveled to the Caribbean nation after being invited by the Government.
