Charles III: after the coronation, neighborhood parties are everywhere and a big concert at Windsor

Thousands of dinners and street parties were held across the UK on the Sunday following the historic coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla ahead of a major concert scheduled for the evening at Windsor Castle.

Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, joined a dinner near Downing Street hosted by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for volunteers, Ukrainian refugees and youth groups. Nothing was missing, no wreaths of British flags and coronation pennants, no King Charles III mugs.

Over 67,000 “big breakfasts” and neighborhood parties were counted during this long coronation weekend. The last two anniversaries of Queen Elizabeth II have already given rise to such “big dinners”.

Several members of the royal family, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, were waiting there at Cranly in Surrey (south).

Princess Anne and her husband Tim Lawrence were in Swindon (west), and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew, were in Windsor.

72% of Britons do not intend to participate

In an Instagram post, the King and Queen sent “best wishes” to the participants in these wonderful dinners, wishing them “a very nice moment.” But according to a recent YouGov poll, 72% of Britons not motivated by a coronation were not going to take part in any celebrations.

After several days of rehearsals, receptions, garden parties and a grand coronation in Westminster Abbey in front of a planetary television audience, the 74-year-old and 75-year-old royal couple were still planning to attend a big concert on Sunday in front of 20,000 spectators. at Windsor Castle (West London).

Some enthusiastic spectators arrived hours before the event with the British flag on their shoulders. Prince and Princess of Wales William and Kate were there to greet the crowd earlier in the day.

In particular, the concert will feature American singers Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, Chinese pianist Lang Lang, Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli and a choir of more than 300 people from a variety of backgrounds. But without British headliners.

Actor Tom Cruise is set to star in the video, as is Winnie the Pooh, possibly following in the footsteps of Paddington Bear, the star of the video, where he had tea with Queen Elizabeth II at the opening of the Jubilee concert in June. 2022.
