The United States warns of the first five local cases of malaria in 20 years

He Center for Disease Control The US CDC issued an alert on Monday after confirming five cases of malariathe first local infections of the disease in the country in two decades.

Four infections transmitted by mosquitoes were confirmed in Florida and one in Texas, the CDC noted in its health alert. The cases in the two southern states do not appear to be related, he said.

The last local contagion of malaria in USA was detected in 2003, when eight cases were identified in Palm Beach, Floridaaccording to the CDC.

Almost all cases of malaria in USA they are imported by people traveling to countries with transmission of the disease.
