Trump will have to post $200,000 bail to avoid jail in Georgia

The state court of Georgia imposed this Monday a bail of 200,000 dollars (about 183,580 euros at today’s exchange rate) to the former president of USA donald trump (2017-2021) to avoid jail after being accused of trying to reverse the results of the 2020 election In this state.

The payment of that bond will allow the Republican to regain his freedom once he has turned himself in to the county prison of fulton (Georgia), where you have until Friday to appear and be dated.

Trump was indicted last week on 13 counts by a grand jury of Georgia for having tried to manipulate the results of the 2020 elections in that state, where the current president, the Democrat Joe Bidenwon by a narrow margin.

Among the crimes he is accused of is violating the RICO law (for its acronym in English), commonly used against mafia bosses, which could lead to several years in prison if proven during trial.

For this crime, the Court asks for $80,000 bail, while for each of the other 12 it asks for $10,000, for a total of $200,000.

In the case of Georgia, he was charged along with 18 collaborators, including his former personal lawyer and former mayor of New York, Rudy Giulianiand his former chief of staff Mark Meadows.

He Fulton County Superior Court This Monday also imposed a $ 100,000 bail on the lawyer john eastman and $10,000 to another defendant, Scott Hall.

Trump has given no clues about when he will present himself and canceled a press conference this Monday in which he was going to present a report on “electoral fraud” from Georgia, a lie he insists on to this day.

This is Trump’s fourth criminal indictment. Two weeks ago he was indicted by a grand jury Washington D.C. four charges for allegedly trying to reverse the result of the elections in USA of 2020, which culminated in the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
