Israel-Hamas war: Yemen’s Houthi rebels vow to continue attacks on the Jewish state

Yemen’s Houthi rebels are embroiled in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. On Tuesday they said they had launched “drones” towards the Jewish state in response to its bombings against Palestinian Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In a statement broadcast by the rebel Al-Masirah TV channel, Yemeni military spokesman General Yahya Sari promised that they “will continue to carry out rocket and drone attacks until the Israeli aggression stops.”

The statement said a “volley of ballistic missiles and several drones” were fired on Tuesday, the third such attack since the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement that holds power in the Gaza Strip began on October 7. Earlier, the Israeli army said it had detected a “hostile flying device” near the Red Sea city of Eilat. The incident did not pose “any threat or risk to civilians,” she added.

Yemeni rebels, who like Hamas are backed by Iran, have been accused by Israel of being responsible for drone strikes that fell on Saturday in Egypt’s Sinai, which borders Israel, injuring six people. “

The Houthis, who took control of the capital Sanaa in 2014, are “part of the axis of resistance” – the name given to Israel’s enemy forces – and will fight with “words and drones”, their Prime Minister Abdelaziz said earlier. Ben Habtoor, AFP. According to him, this axis, which “stretches from Tehran to Palestine through Baghdad, Sanaa, Damascus and Beirut,” coordinates its actions “against the Zionist enemy (Israeli editor’s note).”

The war between Israel and Hamas, sparked by the Palestinian Islamist movement’s unprecedented Oct. 7 attack on Israel, is raising fears of a regional conflict. The head of Iran’s diplomacy warned on Tuesday that pro-Iran factions in the region cannot remain silent in the face of war between Israel and Palestinian Hamas, stressing the urgency of ending the war.
