Henry Cavill confirms that he will return to life to “Superman”

The British actor Henry Cavill confirmed this Monday that he will give life to “Superman” on the big screen, after appearing in a brief cameo at the end of the movie “Black Adam”.

Cavill explained in a video uploaded to his Instagram profile that he had decided to wait for the film’s opening weekend to pass so that fans could see it without ruining the surprise.

Now that many have seen it, I want to make it official: I’m back as ‘Superman’“, ad.

The 39-year-old actor did not give more details about his return to the skin of the well-known superhero and only published a photo dressed in his emblematic suit with the message: “A small sample of what will come, friends.”

“Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded”Cavill added.

Although the Warner Bros studio, owner of the DC Comics franchise, has not confirmed any projects on “Superman”, rumors and speculations about a new film centered on the character have intensified in recent years.

In fact, during the promotion of “Black Adam”, its protagonist, the American actor Dwayne Johnson, has not stopped hinting that he would like to see a fight between his character and “Superman”.

Cavill debuted as Clark Kent/Superman in 2013 with “Man of Steel”, to continue the character in “Batman v Superman” (2016), “Justice League” (2017) and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” (2021).

After those appearances, the actor focused on projects like “The Witcher” or “Enola Holmes”, although he never hid his desire to return to the DC Comics franchise.

Warner Bros. is trying to relaunch its superhero franchise after the mixed reception of titles like “The Suicide Squad,” “Justice League” and “Birds of Prey.”

His latest bet is “Black Adam”, starring Dwayne Johnson and directed by the Spanish Jaume Collet-Serra, which grossed 67 million dollars during its opening weekend in the United States, despite negative reviews.

The film, whose estimated budget is around 200 million dollars, was the first choice in American theaters but its box office was far from other recent releases from the competition such as “Thor: Love and Thunder” (144 million dollars) and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” ($187 million).
