Ester Exposito will immerse herself in the horror genre from the hand of Jaume Balagueró in “Venus”

Spanish actress Ester Exposito, known for her participation in the Netflix series “Elite”, will immerse herself in the horror genre in “Venus”, the new film by director Jaume Balagueró, responsible, among other films, for the REC saga.

In a ceremony held this Tuesday at the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival (northeast), Balagueró assured that the film, which will begin shooting in Madrid next November 15, will be “disproportionately horrifying, violent and dirty.”

The film is inspired by the American story by HP Lovecraft, “The Dreams of the Witch’s House”, transferring it to the outskirts of the Spanish capital, to a large building, in a “Dirty environment, of a modern city, with misery and problems, a world close to the sordid”, He explained.

After revealing that the film will have “A lot to do with the hyperrealistic, the hypernaturalist”, Balagueró assured that he would be happy if he could premiere at next year’s festival, because it is “Excessively Sitges.”

Exposito, wanting to get back in front of the cameras, after almost a year without doing so due to the coronavirus pandemic, has not forgotten that it will be a change of record in his career, a “Great challenge and what makes me the most is that it will be extreme and radical, getting dirty in a very brave project, which I really want ”.

Regarding his character, without being able to say much, he has dropped that “I could be a marquesita in a horror movie, but no, this is very street and immersing myself in that world seems great to me.”

Nor has she forgotten that since she was little, she likes horror movies her parents watched and that He was attracted to gender to the point of thinking that he would ever like to belong to a universe like that. “Being at this festival today, next to them, is a privilege as an actress and as that girl who considered herself a fan of this type of story”.

“Venus” will be the second film from the new Spanish film label “The Fear Collection”, created by Pokeepsie Films (the producer of Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang) and Sony, in association with Amazon Prime Video, after “Veneciafrenia”, by De la Iglesia himself, which was seen a few days ago at the contest.

Álex de la Iglesia recognized that “The fear collection” is “a dream come true” and predicted that if conditions remain as suitable as they are now they will “A lot of movies.” The intention is to be able to do between two and three a year, both from established directors and young people who are just starting out, and he has asserted that they already have a bag of ten projects.

De la Iglesia wants the seal to be impregnated with “Monsters, terror, tremendously bad people, blood” Nor has he ruled out that, a lover as he is of the Hammer cinema (English company of horror, suspense and science fiction films), he would like to “Recover the carefree and free spirit of the absurd films of the seventies, which we will always remember.”

Carolina Bang indicated that they already have the approved budget for the first films, “Which gives us a lot of muscle, because each film will be around three million euros.”
