As a reminder, Jussie Smollett had claimed in January 2019 to have been the victim of a hate crime, two masked men having attacked him before making racist and homophobic attacks. In the absence of formal video evidence, the authorities ended up finding the two alleged attackers, Ola and Abel Osundairo, before suspecting the star of having staged his assault by paying a few thousand dollars for the two brothers.

Jussie Smollett then got away with it because in March of the same year, a court had lifted the charges. However, the Chicago police had immediately let it be known that things would not stop there and it would seem that justice resumed everything from the start with this new instruction.
