The impulsive obsession with staying in bed for hours doing nothing could end up being a disease if it is not recognized in time. Many health experts have determined that clinomania is interpreted as anxiety and those who suffer from it may suffer in the long term.

According to El Tiempo de Colombia, people with this condition prefer to lie down all day, instead of taking advantage of their time to carry out any activity. They may even prefer to do nothing in bed to miss work or school.

“It is a clear sign that there is a disturbance or a psychological discomfort that prevents daily tasks”, they assure doctors of the portal World Psychologists, cited by the Colombian media.

On the other hand, the website ‘Psychology and Mind’ ensures that this pathology can be detected in time, if we recognize the following symptoms: preferring to use free time to lie in bed instead of going out with friends, family or do any other productive activity.

Likewise, we could notice this disorder if we have sudden mood swings, obsession with what has to do with the bed and being in it, desire to be lying down at all times, sadness and demotivation, feelings of guilt, social isolation and misunderstanding.

By way of advice, ‘Mundo Psicólogos’ suggests that psychological treatment should be used when people suffer from this disorder. Doctors force their patients to do any physical activity, to modify that lazy behavior.

This condition could be the consequence of another type of disorder, so doctors recommend conducting psychological evaluations to rule them out.

Time points out that this obsession should not be confused with rest and hours of sleep within normal parameters. However, if you think you might have this condition, you should see your doctor.
