Argentina will go on partial strike in all transport three days before the general strike against Milei’s adjustment

Argentina will undergo a three-hour partial strike on all transport on Monday, May 6, three days before the general strike called by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) against the adjustment plan of the Government of Javier Milei.

As reported this Tuesday by Argentine Confederation of Transport Workersthere will be employee assemblies next Monday, between 8:00 am and 11:00 am (11:00 am-2:00 pm GMT), so the metro service (metro), cargo transport and hydrocarbon supply, flights and grain shipments will be affected.

“Basically, it is a problem within a general recession and falling incomes.”, said the union’s deputy general secretary, João Carlos Schmidin an interview with Radio con Vos.

Schmid himself published a message two days ago on his account on the social network X, in which he explained that “Air, land, port and sea #transport activities will be interrupted” against the tax package that, together with the Legal bases and starting points for the freedom of Argentineswas processed this Tuesday in the National Congress.

Asked about the Milei Government’s adjustment policies and the president’s statements that wages were improving and were beginning to beat inflation, the union representative stated that he did not see “this recovery”.

“When the Government says that it has controlled inflation, stopping payments and putting pressure on certain sectors, it is logical that it will have some result. In the cemetery there is no inflation” he pointed out.
