From Val Fourret to Las Vegas: this self-employed man has invented a connected motorcycle helmet

It was because his wife was afraid to see him driving a motorcycle that Issam Tali embarked on a crazy project: creating the world’s first connected helmet. After years of study and research, this unusual object could hit the market next year.

From the modest office he occupies in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines), the 39-year-old entrepreneur presents his prototype, designed by aeronautical engineers with bold aesthetics and aerodynamics. Its feature is the reproduction of braking indicators, warnings, etc. on the biker’s head.

All this information is not only visible on the motorcycle but is also visible on the visor thanks to the box that communicates between the two-wheeler and the helmet. The goal is to increase visibility among motorists and therefore improve safety. In addition, in the event of a fall, the interface immediately alerts emergency services.

“We have been accustomed to competition since childhood”

This invention allowed Issam Tali to travel around the world, particularly to Las Vegas, where he was able to present his model and, he hopes, attract investors. Far, far away from his hometown of Val Fourret, where he spent part of his childhood before turning to retail and working in mass distribution. The Sully Towers where he grew up fell, defeated by the city’s rebuilding.

But this father has lost nothing of his memory, of his history, which helped him in his professional life. “When you come from an area, you inherit a mentality: you don’t give up. “We have been accustomed to competition since childhood,” he admits. Obviously, I got a good education and my parents instilled values in me, but my neighborhood also taught me to step out of my comfort zone. It increases willpower. Yes, it’s true, it’s easier to create there. But that’s because we are driven by a kind of carelessness. We ask ourselves fewer questions, we go for it. Actually, this is exactly the advice I would give to a young person who wants to start: don’t ask questions, try, don’t be afraid to make mistakes. »

However, he knows, having taken it up, that the path is more winding than anywhere else. The main obstacle is the difficulty of accessing the network and the inability to know which doors to knock on.
